Homecoming: October

By: Emma Boone

Homecoming was on October 14th, 2016 at the Veterans’ Memorial Stadium. The Eagles stacked up a solid win Friday night against the Buchanan Bears with a final score of 23 to 14. Armed with Bambams and pumped with school spirit, there was no stopping the crowd from cheering on Clovis West to victory! Of course, we can’t forget the club booths! The smell of tacos, the bright signs along the ramp, and people bustling around really brought in the spirit of the homecoming game. The cheerleaders kept the fans on their feet, with the help of the band blasting some wild tunes.

The homecoming court was dressed to absolute perfection, from princess dresses, to football uniforms, to tuxedos, to shiny and sequined dresses, and to band uniforms. The Clovis West Homecoming King and Queen, Diego Cruz and Grace Meyer, were crowned with much support from the crowd, as well as the other homecoming candidates.
The homecoming skits ended with some shocking results:
1st place: Freshmen (Lifeguards)
The freshman skit was complete with cool surfer dudes, lifeguards saving lives, and even a few sharks who popped out of nowhere to attack! The amount of energy, variety, and flawless dancing truly earned the freshmen their win this year!

2nd place: Seniors (Firefighters)
The senior skit started out with a news story that led the audience to the scene of the crime where we saw the criminals burning up the scene, the mighty firefighters saving the poor damsels in distress, and even more firefighters teaming up with some “fire” dance moves.

3rd place: Sophomores (Zoo Keepers)
The sophomore skit consisted of many students dressed in animal onesies, and the remaining students as zookeepers, who caged the wild animals. However, the animals could not be kept long as they danced and ran amok!

4th place: Juniors (Doctors)
The junior skit incorporated No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed, a cute story many remember from their childhood, into their skit. The doctors were there to save the day when the foolish monkeys fell off the bed and bumped their heads!

Overall, this homecoming game was definitely one to remember.
