The Sadie Hawkins dance is one event of constant excitement. It turns the tables when it comes to inviting someone to a dance—here, only the girls get to invite the boys. Although asking someone out is nerve-wracking, especially with the constant possibility of rejection, it seems like the ladies have it down this year at Clovis West. While interviewing a few of our fellow female Eagles, it became quite clear that a lot of them are just full of self-confidence. For example, Sophomore Amy Durbano stated, “I already knew that he was going to say ‘yes,’ so I wasn’t really scared. I already had the courage to do it.” Personally, the thought then came up that maybe it was easy because she already had some type of relationship with him beforehand. As it turns out, though, this wasn’t true for everyone. Freshman Diana Gonzales demonstrated a similar level of confidence when she responded with, “It doesn’t matter to me whether he says ‘yes’ or ‘no.’ I’m not afraid to ask. I just let my emotions flow and do it.”
But, the table-turning doesn’t just stop at the ladies. Freshman Jakob Cervantes commented that being asked out was “a little flattering and [he] was kind of surprised.” So it’s not just the girls that get these emotions. Ladies, remember: when it comes to asking out a guy, have confidence and be courageous. Also, remember that the dance isn’t until Saturday, October 15th so you all have plenty of time to look for your guy and build up the courage to ask him out.
