Worldwide News: November

By: Kirsten Woodard

In New Zealand, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit, leaving a few cows stranded. Luckily, the cows were unharmed and rescued by their owner. He rejoined them with the other 14 of the herd.
In other developments, China has announced their plan to build a giant solar plant in an abandoned Ukrainian city. It was abandoned in 1986 and was inaccessible until now. China hopes the plant will power up to 150,000 homes. The purpose of the plan is to clean the country’s air, eliminating all carbon dioxide emissions by the year 2030 through their expansion of solar and wind power.

The End is Near: November

With the fall semester finally coming to a close, the dreaded finals are also underway.
Compared to previous years, the schedule this year is an outlier. Instead of the usual two-week Winter Vacation and then finals, the fall semester ends before the much-needed break. Those who support the change report that this way, students won't forget everything they learned over break. They also argue that the break will be more enjoyable this way. Those who oppose the plan claim that this takes away students’ last chance to study for finals and see for themselves what they are unclear on. Nonetheless, this plan is in effect.
Remember, Tuesday, December 20th, report to periods one and four. On Wednesday, December 21st, go to periods two and six. On Thursday, December 22nd, we have periods three and seven.

The Clovis West athletes are doing a phenomenal job of representing the Eagle Spirit in the Central Valley. Both C-Dub Competition Cheer teams, and the Competition Pep team, killed it at Regionals, with all of them qualifying for Nationals in Anaheim. The soccer teams have also “kicked” off a great season so far; they have many goals in sight. Additionally, basketball made our Eagle name known off the mainland (in Hawaii), where they earned second place.
